The 2013-2014 season begins on Saturday, as the Bruins travel to San Diego for a 12 p.m. meet at the USD Sports Center Pool.
UCLA is coming off an 11-3 dual meet record in 2012-2013, which included a victory at Spieker Aquatics Center against San Diego on Nov. 9. The Bruins bested the Toreros 198-92.
The Bruins return 17 swimmers from last year's squad and also bring in 11 freshmen and one transfer, which were selected as the ninth-ranked recruiting class by Swim Swam.
Seven swimmers who qualified for the NCAA Championships last year return, led by seniors Lauren Baker, Kathryn Murphy, Ting Quah and Anna Senko, juniors Jessica Khojasteh and Noelle Tarazona and sophomore Katie Kinnear.
Quah was a CSCAA First Team All-American a year ago after placing seventh in the 100 Butterfly at last year's NCAA's. Baker, Khojasteh, Kinnear, Murphy, Quah and Senko received Honorable Mention All-American accolades at the NCAA's.
Baker and Quah each posted a pair of school records during last year's postseason. Baker set UCLA marks in the 1000 Freestyle and 1650 Free at the NCAA's, while Quah put her name atop the Bruin record books in the 100 Ffly at the NCAA's and the 200 Free at the Pac-12 Championships.
The UCLA diving team will not participate in Saturday's meet but continues to train in advance of the Nov. 1 quad meet home opener against Oregon State, UC Santa Barbara and Florida Gulf Coast.
