CHICAGO – UCLA senior Anthony Barr was named one of 12 semifinalists for the Butkus Award, the Butkus Foundation announced Monday. The award honors the top linebacker in the country.
In seven games played this season Barr has recorded 38 tackles, including 13 for a loss of 76 yards. The senior has added six sacks, three fumble recoveries and four forced fumbles. Barr has totaled 34.5 tackles for loss over the last season and a half, including 19.5 sacks.
The Butkus Award honors outstanding linebackers at three levels of play, while spreading the word about the I Play Clean™ initiative, which encourages teens to eat well, train hard, and play smart, instead of resorting to performance-enhancing drugs.
