The Bruins opened regional round action of the Las Vegas Invitational with a pair of wins at home against Morehead State (81-70) last Friday and Chattanooga (106-65) on Sunday. UCLA scored more than 100 points for the first time since cruising past Wyoming, 113-62, on Dec. 23, 2008. In three victories over the last week, UCLA averaged 91.0 points per game, with Jordan Adams logging a team-best 24.3 points per game.

Jordan Adams’ career-high eight steals against Sacramento State (Nov. 18) are the most by a UCLA player since Nov. 28, 2006, when Darren Collison had nine in a win against Long Beach State. Adams ranked fifth in the nation, through games played on Sunday, Nov. 24, with 3.4 steals per game.

UCLA owns a 4-0 all-time record against Nevada. The Bruins defeated the Wolf Pack, 67-56, in the John Wooden Classic in Anaheim on Dec. 10, 2005, when both teams were ranked in the top 20 (UCLA 16, Nevada 17). UCLA has gone 3-1 in the all-time series agianst Northwestern. The Bruins earned an 81-67 victory in the last meeting, played Jan. 24, 1969 at Chicago Stadium (Chicago, Ill). UCLA finished that season as NCAA Champions with a 29-1 record.

Kyle Anderson registered the third triple-double on record in school history on Nov. 22, 2013, UCLA’s first triple-double since Dec. 18, 1995 (Toby Bailey had 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against Stephen F. Austin). Anderson clinched the triple-double with his 10th assist, a dish to Jordan Adams who knocked down a shot to finish with 30 points. Anderson had previously come three assists shy of a triple-double in three games (twice last season).

Since the assist became an official stat in 1983-84, UCLA has just three triple-doubles on record (including Kyle Anderson’s this season) – Toby Bailey’s on Dec. 18, 1995 and a point-rebound-block triple-double by Jelani McCoy against Maryland on Dec. 9, 1995. McCoy registered 15 points, 10 rebounds and 11 blocks versus the Terrapins.

This marks the second consecutive season in which Jordan Adams has opened the year scoring in double digits in each of UCLA’s first four games. Last November, Adams became the first freshman in program history to score at least 20 points in his first four collegiate contests. This season, he has scored in double figures in the team’s first five games, reaching the 20-point plateau four times and logging a career-high 30 points in UCLA’s 81-70 win against Morehead State on Friday, Nov. 22. He has scored at least 10 points in 30 of 38 collegiate games.

Ranked No. 19 in this week’s Associated Press poll, UCLA returns to the court this fall with six of its primary eight contributors from last season’s team. Three of UCLA’s five starters return from last season’s team – sophomores Jordan Adams and Kyle Anderson and senior Travis Wear – along with senior David Wear, junior Norman Powell and sophomore Tony Parker, who each played at least 33 of 35 games for UCLA last season.
