WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – The UCLA football team had 11 student-athletes named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Teams, the conference office announced Tuesday. To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
Redshirt sophomore center Jake Brendel was named to the first team for the second straight season. Brendel maintains a 3.49 GPA in economics. Joining Brendel on the first team was redshirt junior fullback Phillip Ruhl (3.37, political science) and redshirt freshman special teams selection Jerry Neuheisel (3.56, undecided).
Senior linebacker Aramide Olaniyan garnered second team accolades with a 3.30 GPA in political science.
Seven Bruins were named honorable mention all-academic. The UCLA honorees were: Luke Gane, Rs.
