LOS ANGELES - Junior Karsta Lowe led the Bruins with 11 kills, while sophomore Karly Drolson added 12 digs, but the Bruins fell in three to seventh-ranked USC on Wednesday at Pauley Pavilion. Set scores were 22-25, 11-25, 13-25.

The Bruins (15-14, 6-13 Pac-12) hit .125 for the match. Senior Kelly Reeves had nine digs, while senior Mariana Aquino tallied five kills and no errors in nine attempts for a .556 hitting percentage. Junior Megan Moenoa posted 30 assists and six digs, sophomore Maddy Klineman produced seven kills and freshman Claire Felix recorded eight kills.

The Bruins held early three-point leads of 5-2, 6-3 and 8-5 in the first set, but the Trojans came back with four in a row to go ahead 9-8. Four sideouts later, kills by Klineman and Lowe put UCLA back on top 12-11. After a USC sideout, another Klineman kill and a Trojan attack error made it 14-12 UCLA. USC came back to tie the score at 14, 15 and 16-all, but Felix followed with a kill and teamed up with Moenoa on a block to give the Bruins an 18-16 edge.

USC responded with a 6-0 run to take a 22-18 lead, but UCLA came back with the next three on a pair of Klineman kills and an Aquino/Moenoa combo block to cut the deficit to one at 22-21. However, the Trojans scored three of the last four points of the opener to take it 25-22. Klineman led the Bruins with six kills and no errors in nine attempts in the first (.667), while Felix and Lowe each added four kills. The Bruins were out-hit .312 to .286.

UCLA never led in the second set. At 1-all, the Trojans scored six straight to break it open early. At 7-1, the Bruins scored three of the next four on two Lowe kills and a Reeves kill to make it 8-4, but another 4-0 run by USC put the visitors up 12-4. The Trojans took their first double-digit lead at 18-8 and went on to win the second 25-11. Lowe had five of the Bruins’ eight kills in the set, as UCLA was out-hit .471 to .067. Moenoa and Reeves each had five digs.

The third set was tied at each of the first four points when the Trojans went on runs of 3-0, 9-2 and 14-3 to go ahead 18-7. USC would maintain a nine-point lead for the rest of the set to take the third 25-13. Aquino was 4-for-6 in kills with no errors in the third, Felix added three kills and Drolson posted five. The Bruins were out-hit .400 to .000.

The regular season wraps up on Friday at 5 p.m. against Utah at Pauley Pavilion. Live audio, video and stats will be available at Seniors Aquino, Meg Norton, Reeves and Madie Smith will be honored prior to the match.
