Three Bruins Named to NSCAA All-Far West Region Team
By: UCLA Athletics

Senior Victor Chavez and juniors Earl Edwards Jr. and Leo Stolz have each been named to the NSCAA All-Far West Region Team, as announced by the NSCAA today. Edwards and Stolz were both selected to the first team while Chavez received second-team accolades.

This is the first time that each player has been named to the All-Far West Region Team in their respective careers. With these three selections, UCLA now has 157 NSCAA All-Far West selections in program history.

Stolz became the sixth UCLA player all-time to be named Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2013 after leading the conference in points (30) and goals (11). The Munich, Germany native also finished tied for the team lead in assists with eight. Nationally, Stolz is 13th in points, 20th in goals scored and 25th in assists. He tied for the conference lead in game-winning goals with four and posted three multi-goal games on the year as well. A semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, Stolz recorded at least one point in 10 of his final 14 matches and was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week four times this season.

Edwards served as UCLA’s co-captain this year and had a terrific season in goal for the Bruins, starting all 20 matches and logging 73 saves with a 1.13 GAA. A first-team All-Pac-12 selection in 2013, Edwards played every single minute of every match for UCLA, tallying seven shutouts on the season. In particular, he was key down the stretch in leading the Bruins to the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, making a season-high seven saves four times in the final seven regular season games.

Chavez earned All-Pac-12 honors for the fourth straight season, making him the first UCLA player to accomplish the feat since David Estrada did it from 2006-09. The senior forward from Fontana, Calif. finished second to Stolz with 23 points, eight goals and seven assists and finished in the top-10 in the Pac-12 in points (2nd), goals (t-5th) and assists (6th). He scored three game-winning goals in 2013, including the golden goal in overtime at then No. 1 Indiana on Sept. 1, and logged two multi-goal games (at Cal State Northridge and vs. Elon in the NCAA Second Round).
