Sophomore guard Nirra Fields (Montreal, Quebec./Mater Dei HS) of the UCLA women's basketball team was named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week (Dec. 9-15).
Fields led the Bruins to their first road win of the 2013-14 season with a 56-55 victory at San Diego State on Sunday. She scored a game-high 18 points while making a career-high four three-pointers (on a career-high 11 attempts). She also added a game-high four steals to go with two assists and one block against the Aztecs. The contest was the fifth-straight away from home for UCLA, and that streak will extend to seven this week as the Bruins travel to Minneapolis for the Subway Classic (Dec. 20-21). UCLA will face Minnesota on Friday and Auburn on Saturday.
This is Field's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
Also nominated: Jordan Adams, M. Basketball.
