LOS ANGELES – UCLA senior linebacker Anthony Barr was named to the AFCA FBS Coaches’ All-America first team and the FWAA All-America second team, the organizations announced Wednesday.
Barr heads into the Sun Bowl against Virginia Tech with 62 tackles, 20 for a loss and 10 sacks. Barr has added four fumble recoveries and five forced fumbles.
The 6-4, 248 pound linebacker has now been named to all five of the major All-American teams, earning first-team honors in four of the five. He is the first consensus All-American at UCLA since Kai Forbath in 2009.
UCLA has the 10th most AFCA All-Americans in the country and the second most in the Pac-12 with 35 selections by 33 different players. The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945.
