WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Senior Alyssa Tiumalu was named Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday after an outstanding weekend in Hawai'i which saw her hit .615 with nine runs batted in and two home runs in helping the Bruins to a perfect 5-0 record.

Tiumalu was named the Most Valuable Player of the Oceanic Time Warner Cable Paradise Classic, recording hits in all five games with eight in 13 at-bats. She also had RBI in four contests. The senior added two doubles, two runs scored and two walks, posting a 1.231 slugging percentage and an on base of .688.

The senior started the tournament with a pair of hits and two RBI against Delaware on Thursday, reaching in all three plate appearances. She plated the Bruins’ fifth run on a double in the first and drove in UCLA’s seventh tally in the second on a single.

On Friday, she had four hits and two homers in a doubleheader. Tiumalu belted a three-run homer and drew a pair of walks against Hampton. The senior came back later in the evening to record three hits and two RBI versus Hawai’i, including what proved to be the game-winning score in extra innings. After recording a single in the fourth and a double in the sixth, Tiumalu launched a two-run homer in the eighth to give the Bruins a 4-1 lead in a game they would win 7-2.

Tiumalu concluded her MVP weekend with hits against Delaware and Hawai’i on Saturday. Her lone hit versus the Rainbow Wahine in the tournament championship game was a big one, as she drove in a pair of insurance runs on a two-out single in the fifth to put UCLA up 4-1.

It is the second Pac-12 Player of the Week honor for Tiumalu, who also earned the award during her freshman season of 2011 (March 1). The Bruins have received 68 Pac-12 Player of the Week awards all-time.
