WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA freshman Mackenzie McDonald and has been named the Pac-12 men’s and tennis player of the Week for play from Mar. 4-10, the Conference office announced on Tuesday.

McDonald (Piedmont, Calif.) was the only Bruin player to go perfect in both singles and doubles last week, helping UCLA to a pair of wins over No. 2 Virginia and Saint Mary’s at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. Against the Cavaliers on Thursday, which was a rematch of last year’s NCAA Championship, the freshman posted a 7-5, 6-4 win over Ryan Shane after teaming up with fellow freshman Gage Brymer to help the Bruins win the doubles point. McDonald, who is ranked 35th nationally in singles, came back on Sunday to notch two more wins, downing Thomas Hunt of Saint Mary’s 6-1, 6-4 in singles, and again teaming with Brymer in doubles to blank opponents Samuel Bloore and Thomas Hunt, 8-0. With the wins, UCLA improved to 11-1 on the year.
