ALBUQUERQUE – The UCLA track and field team completed day one of the NCAA Indoor Championships at the Albuquerque Convention Center on Friday.
The Bruins were highlighted by the performance of Ida Storm in the weight throw. Storm uncorked a personal best throw of 71-10.25 to finish second overall. The mark was a personal best by over a foot and a half. Storm unleashed a throw of 76-3 on her final attempt but it was ruled a foul.
Kylie Price wrapped up her indoor season by finishing 14th in the long jump. The All-American recorded a jump of 19-9.50.
Marcus Nilsson completed the first day of the heptathlon in 10th place with 3,149 points. Nilsson was the strongest in the shot put where he ran away from the field with a mark of 52-4.75 to earn 849 points in the event.
Nilsson will start off the final day for the Bruins on Saturday with an 11 a.m. MT, start in the 60m hurdles. Mike Woepse will compete in the pole vault and Kelsey Smith will run the 3,000m.
