LOS ANGELES - The sixth-ranked Bruins dropped their second match of the day, 5-0, at No. 1 USC on Thursday afternoon at USC's Merle Norman Stadium. UCLA droped to 6-5 on the year while USC improved to 12-1.

The #4 doubles team of freshmen Skylar Dykstra and Jennie Frager dropped a straight-set match, 21-7, 21-12, to the USC's Eve Ettinger and Bria Russ. Frager had 11 kills, four digs and one block for the Bruins while Dykstra had four kills and nine digs. Russ led USC with a match-high 12 kills to go with 10 digs while Ettinger had 11 kills, nine aces, four blocks and three digs.

At No. 5 doubles, the Trojans' Paige Hines and Nicolette Martin won a tightly contested match over UCLA's Karly Drolson and Rachel Inouye, 21-15, 22-20. Both of the UCLA tandem again registered double-doubles with Drolson tallying 17 kills and 10 digs and Inouye recording 12 kills and 11 digs. Hines led USC with a double-double of 26 kills and 15 digs.

The Bruins' duo of junior Karsta Lowe and sophomore Taylor Formico dropped a two-set match (21-19, 21-14) to USC's Sam Hirschmann and Natasa Siljkovic at #3 doubles. Lowe had another solid hitting performance at .600 (10K, 1E, 15TA) and added four blocks, three digs and an ace while Formico had a double-double with 12 kills and 16 digs.

Kelly Claes and Alexa Strange defeated the Bruins' duo of junior Zoë Nightingale and senior Madie Smith in a tight affair, 21-15, 23-21 at No. 2 doubles. Claes had 26 kills while Strange added 11 kills and 10 digs for the Trojans. Smith had 17 kills and nine digs while Nightingale tallied six kills, five blocks, three aces and two digs for UCLA.

Kirby Burnham and Sara Hughes of USC won a straight-set match at No. 1 doubles, defeating the Bruins' tandem of sophomore Kamila Tan and freshman Jessyka Ngauamo 21-11, 21-11. Burnham led USC with 12 kills, seven digs and two blocks while Hughes had five kills, eight aces and seven digs. Tan contributed 10 kills, two digs, two blocks and an ace for UCLA while her partner, Ngauamo, tallied four kills and three digs.
