HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. - The sixth-ranked Bruins dropped their second match of the day, 5-0, tp No. 1 USC on Saturday afternoon at Hermosa Beach, Calif., at the 2014 Beach Collegiate Challenge, hosted by USA Volleyball. UCLA droped to 6-8 on the year while USC improved to 16-1.
Kelly Claes and Alexa Strange defeated the Bruins' duo of junior Zoë Nightingale and senior Madie Smith in straight sets, 21-11, 21-9 at No. 2 doubles.
The Bruins' duo of junior Karsta Lowe and sophomore Taylor Formico dropped a three-set match (19-21, 21-19, 15-9) to USC's Sam Hirschmann and Natasa Siljkovic at #3 doubles.
UCLA continues pool play today at 2:00 p.m. on courts 7-11 vs. Santa Clara.
