Jordan Adams Will Return to UCLA for Junior Season
By: UCLA Athletics

LOS ANGELES – UCLA men’s basketball sophomore Jordan Adams will remain in Westwood for his junior season in 2014-15 and will not enter the 2014 NBA Draft, it was announced today.

Adams earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors in 2013-14, leading the Bruins in scoring with 17.4 points per game. He finished his sophomore campaign as the team’s second-leading rebounder (5.3 rpg) and set the school’s single-season steals record, compiling 95 steals in 36 games.

“I’ve had so much fun playing here at UCLA, and I’m really excited about the team we’re going to have next year,” Adams said. “Once the season ended, my family and I began carefully weighing all of my options. In the end, staying at UCLA for my junior year is a win-win situation. I’m glad that I went through the process, received constructive feedback and had time to reflect on what I truly want. I love being a Bruin. I’m looking forward to getting back in the gym and the weight room to get better, and I can’t wait for next season.”

A 6-foot-5 guard from Atlanta, Adams ranked seventh in the Pac-12 in scoring last season (17.4 ppg) and led UCLA in three-point field goals (52), three-point field goal attempts (146), free throws made (158), free throw attempts (189) and free throw percentage (83.6 percent). He shot 48.5 percent overall, making 35.6 percent of his three-point attempts.

“Obviously we are really excited to have Jordan returning to our program,” UCLA head coach Steve Alford said. “He has been a huge part of this team the last two years, and he will have an even greater role next season. He’s going to continue to get better, and there’s no doubt that he will be successful in the NBA when that day comes. It’s only a matter of when, not if. He’s the kind of guy you want in your locker room, on your team and on your court. Jordan is the total package and again, we couldn’t be more excited to have him back.”

In two seasons at UCLA, Adams has averaged 16.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and a school-record 2.4 steals per game. He has scored at least 20 points in 24 career games and has scored in double figures in 56 of 69 games played. Adams’ career point total of 1,131 points ranks No. 42 on the school’s all-time list. Adams’ 168 career steals is seventh on UCLA’s all-time list.
