Bruins Meet Roadrunners Friday in Game One of MPSF Tournament

LOS ANGELES, CA -- The No. 2 ranked UCLA women’s water polo team will compete in the 2014 MPSF Tournament at USC, Apr. 25-27. Second-seeded UCLA (23-3) meets seventh-seeded Cal State Bakersfield (12-20) in game one of the tournament at 10:30 a.m.

The winner of the MPSF Tournament earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Women’s Water Polo Championship, May 9-11, also at USC. Since 1996, UCLA has won 10 MPSF Tournament titles, most recently in 2012.

In two meetings against CS Bakersfield this season the Bruins have prevailed. UCLA won 14-3 on Jan. 19 at the UCLA Invitational and 14-8 in a conference game at CS Bakersfield on Apr. 5. The Bruins lead the overall series with the Roadrunners, 5-0.

UCLA enters the game after winning its final two conference games against San Jose State (8-6) and USC (6-4). In the win against the Trojans, UCLA’s Emily Donohoe scored three goals and earned MPSF Player of the Week honors.

Following is the schedule for Friday’s games:
Game 1: UCLA (23-3) vs. CS Bakersfield (12-20)
Game 2: USC (22-2) vs. Arizona State (14-8)
Game 3: California (17-7) vs. San Jose State (20-11)
