LA JOLLA, Calif. – The UCLA track and field team sent a small group to compete at the Triton Invitational this weekend on the UCSD campus.
The meet was highlighted by a personal best in the shot put by Nicholas Scarvelis. The sophomore recorded a mark of 63-6.75 to place sixth overall and second against collegiate competition.
Julian Wruck finished second overall and first against the collegiate field with a mark of 207-11 in the discus. Earlier in the week Wruck recorded a throw of 212-4 to win the OTC Meet in Chula Vista.
Matt Kosecki threw the discus 186-3 to finish 16th. At the OTC Meet he tallied a mark of 185-8 while Scarvelis tossed a personal best of 178-10 in Chula Vista.
In the pole vault, Renee Greene finished fourth overall with a clearance of 12-1.50. Monique Van tied for fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 37-3.25 and also placed 12th in the 400 hurdles.
UCLA will return home next week for a dual meet against rival USC. The meet is scheduled for Sunday, May 4, and will air on the Pac-12 Network (Tape Delay).
