TULSA, Ok -- The second-ranked UCLA women’s golf team begins play Tuesday in the 32nd NCAA Women’s Golf Championship at the Tulsa Country Club.

The Bruins are aiming for their fourth overall NCAA team title in women’s golf, third under Hall of Fame coach Carrie Forsyth. Previously, Forsyth led the Bruins to titles in 2004 and 2011, and eight regional titles, including the 2014 championship two weeks ago in Stillwater, Ok.

“Winning the NCAA Regional in Stillwater was a huge confidence builder for our team,” said Forsyth. “It also gives us a chance to play as one of the top three seeds, so we’ll have the favorites in our group: USC and Vanderbilt. We’re looking forward to the competition as well as the excitement. We are ready.”

Freshman Alison Lee, the nation’s consensus No. 1 player, will lead the Bruins in their 27th NCAA Championship appearance. Lee, 19, was named to the 2014 USA Curtis Cup Team in March along with teammate Erynne Lee, a junior. Freshman Bronte Law, a native of Stockport, England, will also represent UCLA in the Curtis Cup and play for the Great Britain & Ireland team. Completing the Bruins’ lineup are sophomore Louise Ridderstrom, ranked 29th nationally, and senior Ani Gulugian, playing in her fourth national championship tournament.

Under Forsyth’s tutelage, the Bruins have advanced to 14 straight NCAA Championships and have recorded six podium finishes. Three players coached by Forsyth have recorded the program’s top finishes: Tiffany Joh (T-1st, 2008), Amie Cochran (T-3rd, 2005) and Susie Mathews (3rd, 2004).

The Tulsa Country Club will play to a par of 70 over 6,194 yards.
