Pac-12 Releases Year-End Tennis Honors
By: UCLA Athletics
LOS ANGELES - UCLA women's tennis player Robin Anderson was named Pac-12 Player of the Year and Bruin men's tennis coach Billy Martin was named Coach of the Year on Wednesday, as the Pac-12 Conference released its year-end awards.

Anderson, a junior from Matawan, N.J., is the fifth UCLA women's player to earn the league's player of the year award, following Keri Phebus (1995), Annica Cooper (1998), Riza Zalameda (2008) and Yasmin Schnack (2010). She ended the year with a 34-6 overall singles record, reaching the round of 16 at the NCAA Championships where she lost to eventual champion Danielle Collins of Virginia. Anderson, who is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation in singles and No. 1 in doubles with partner Jennifer Brady, was instrumental in leading UCLA to the NCAA title this year, as the Bruins downed North Carolina, 4-3 in the title match. She posted wins in both singles and doubles in the victory, downing top-ranked Jamie Loeb in straight-sets at No. 1 singles. Following the event, she was named the NCAA Tournament's Most Outstanding Player. In addition to her 34-6 singles record, Anderson ended the season 34-2 in doubles play.

Joining Anderson on the All-Pac-12 First Team is freshman Jennifer Brady. Junior Chanelle Van Nguyen was a second-team selection, while sophomore Kyle McPhillips earned honorable mention accolades. Complete Pac-12 All-Conference honors for the women can be found HERE.

For Martin, who is in his 21st year as head coach at UCLA, it is his third-straight Coach of the Year honor, having also won the award in 2012 and 2013 (co). He led UCLA to the program's second Pac-12 Tournament title in Ojai in 2014, downing top-ranked USC, 4-2 in the championship match. The Bruins ended the conference season with a 6-1 record. UCLA would go on to reach the semifinals at the NCAA Championships, suffering a hard-fought 4-2 loss to No. 2 Oklahoma. It marked the 20th time in 21 years that UCLA has reached at least the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championships. The Bruins, who were a No. 6 seed in this year's NCAA Tournament and ended the season ranked No. 3 in the ITA Rankings, finished the season with a 26-4 overall record.

In addition to Martin, the UCLA men had five players honored on all-conference teams Wednesday. Junior Marcos Giron and Senior Clay Thompson were named to the first-team, while freshmen Mackenzie McDonald and Gage Brymer were second-team selections. Sophomore Karue Sell was an honorable mention selection. Complete honors for the men can be found HERE.
