Five More Qualify for NCAA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The UCLA track and field team had five more athletes qualify for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., on the final day of competition at the NCAA West Prelims at John McDonnell Field. A total of 11 Bruins will head to the championship, which will begin on June 11 at Hayward Field.

In the span of 10 minutes the Bruins had five qualifiers. The momentum started when both Trinity Wilson and Brea Buchanan placed third in their respective heats to automatically qualify. Wilson ran a wind-aided 13.22 while Buchanan posted a season-best 13.32.

After the hurdle duo qualified, a pair in the men’s discus moved on as well. Julian Wruck finished second with a 204-10 and Matt Kosecki placed eighth with a throw of 190-7.

The Bruins were not done as junior Zibby Boyer cleared 5-9.25 in the high jump to advance to the NCAA Championship for the first time in her career.
