Incoming Freshman Grauer Named 2014 Ms. Softball State POY

Incoming UCLA freshman Johanna Grauer has been named 2014 Ms. Softball State Player of the Year by The Bruin-bound Grauer was 27-0 in the circle and led Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton, Calif. to a CIF North Coast Section Division I Championship.

Earning State Sophomore of the Year honors in 2012 and State Junior of the Year accolades in '13, Grauer posted a 0.51 earned run average in her 27 victories, striking out 290 in 191 1/3 innings. She tossed three no-hitters and walked only 27, allowing an opposing batting average of .097. At the plate, she hit .429 with 39 hits and 20 runs batted in.

Grauer becomes the 12th different Bruin to be named Cal-Hi Sports Ms. Softball State Player of the Year. The most recent is graduating senior Jessica Hall (2010), who along with Anjelica Selden (2004) and Lisa Dodd (2003) won the award in the 2000's.

Winning the award twice were Tracy Compton (1980-81) and Amanda Freed (1997-98), with Jan Jeffers (1976), Karen Andrews (1977), Samantha Ford (1984), Lisa Fernandez (1989), Jennifer Brundage (1991) and Courtney Dale (1995) also earning the honor.
