EUGENE, Ore. – The UCLA track and field team made quite the impression at the IAAF World Junior Championships, highlighted by a bronze medal performance by Braheme Days in the shot put.
Four Bruins made the trek to historic Hayward Field in an event that showcased the top junior talent from around the world.
Days proved to be one of the best young talents in the world in the shot put as he placed third for the United States. Days posted the top mark in the qualifying round with a throw of 64-4.
Days then recorded a mark of 65-7.75 (20.01m) on his first throw in the finals to secure the bronze. UCLA signee Amir Patterson placed seventh with a mark of 63-0 (19.20m).
UCLA signee Misana Viltz made the semifinal round of the 110m hurdles and posted a time of 14.02 to place fifth in his heat.
Also representing the Bruins was Richard Ho, who posted a 30:48.86 for Chinese Taipei to place 18th in the 10,000m.
