Stolz became the sixth UCLA player all-time to be named Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2013, leading the conference in points (30) and goals (11) and finishing tied for the team lead in assists with eight. He ranked 13th nationally in points, 20th in goals scored and 25th in assists. Stolz also ended the season with four game-winning goals, another conference best, and posted three multi-goal games on the year.
In addition, Stolz recorded at least one point in 10 of his final 14 matches and was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week on four separate occasions. He helped lead UCLA to the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2003. Stolz earned first-team All-America honors from the NSCAA, Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News and was also a first-team All-Pac-12 selection.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in NCAA soccer presented annually to one male and one female athlete. The winners will be announced Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at the trophy presentation banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
The watch lists are compiled by the NSCAA Men’s and Women’s NCAA Division I All-America Committees, based on their analysis of returning All-America and All-Region players, as well as any prominent newcomers.
Stolz and the preseason No. 4 Bruins begin the regular season on Aug. 29 at Wake Forest. UCLA has two exhibition games prior to, hosting Nebraska-Omaha on Aug. 19 at North Athletic Field at 4pm and Los Angeles All-Stars on Aug. 23 at 6pm at Marshall Field at Drake Stadium.
