UCLA Routs Los Angeles All-Stars, 10-0
By: UCLA Athletics
UCLA played amateur all-star team Los Angeles All-Stars on Saturday evening, but it was the Bruins who shined, winning 10-0 in an exhibition game at Drake Stadium. Sophomore forward Kevin De La Torre netted a hat trick in just 30 minutes of play, while freshman forward Seyi Adekoya scored two goals in 29 minutes of action. Sophomore midfielder Willie Raygoza recorded three assists.

The rout was on early in the contest, as the Bruins scored two goals in the first four minutes. Edgar Contreras headed in a Leo Stolz corner kick at the 1:58 mark, and then Stolz scored on a penalty kick at 3:46 after a Bruin was fouled in the box. Adekoya netted his first score of the match at 32:46 for the Bruins’ final goal of the half, with assists going to Raygoza and Grady Howe.

Adekoya kicked off a second-half scoring barrage with a 49th minute goal, and Jordan Vale joined the scoring party just over a minute later, with Larry Ndjock and Raygoza adding assists, to make the score 4-0.

The Bruins emptied the bench in the 60th minute but kept the attack going. Christian Chavez and Gage Zerboni connected for a goal at 62:39, and De La Torre hit his first goal in to the upper corner at 68:24 off a cross from Nico Gonzalez. Forty seconds later, another foul in the box gave UCLA a penalty kick, and Brian Iloski buried it for an 8-0 lead. De La Torre scored the Bruins’ final goals of the game at 77:51 off an Iloski cross and at 86:25 unassisted.

UCLA outshot the LA All-Stars, 25-3. Earl Edwards Jr. earned the shutout victory, making two saves.

In two exhibition games this week, the Bruins outscored their opponents, 15-2. Over the two games, Stolz had two goals and four assists, De La Torre scored three goals, and Vale had two goals and one assist.

The fourth-ranked Bruins open the season at No. 11 Wake Forest on Friday, Aug. 29. UCLA will also face No. 22 North Carolina in Chapel Hill on Sunday, Aug. 31.
