UCLA freshman Louise Ridderstrom earned All-Scholar honors from the Women’s Golf Coaches Assn, the organization announced Monday.

To qualify, female college golfers must have a 3.5 cumulative grade point average for the previous academic year.

In her freshman year, Ridderstrom, who is undeclared, had a cumulative GPA of 3.55.

She became the fourth player to receive WGCA All-Scholar honors during Coach Carrie Forsyth’s 14-year tenure.

In 2012-13, Ridderstrom, a native of Stocksund, Sweden, played 36 rounds and recorded 12 starts and a scoring average of 75.3. In her best finish at the Bruin Wave Invitational, she tied for seventh place.

In other news, four UCLA alumnae golfers completed play Sunday at the 68th U.S. Women’s Open at Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton, NY.

Maria Jose Uribe, Jane Park, Melissa Martin and Ryann O’Toole were four of the eight former UCLA players who made the cut and played 72 holes.

Uribe tied for 17th place at seven-over par 295 (+7) after posting a final round score of 73 (+1). Park, Martin and O’Toole each tied for 42nd place at 300 (+12). Park and Martin carded scores of 75 (+3) on Sunday and O’Toole signed for a 77 (+5).

Twenty-four year-old Inbee Park won her third consecutive major of the year – and sixth tournament of 2013 – with a 72-hole total of 280 (-8). She posted a final round score of 71 (-1) to capture her second U.S. Women’s Open trophy since 2008.
