The Bruins are among 17 teams battling for the tournament title. Included in the field are top-ranked USC, No. 6 Arizona State, 13th-ranked Stanford and No. 14 Oklahoma State. Other local teams include host San Diego State, UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton.
Hall of Fame Head Coach Carrie Forsyth has chosen to continue with a lineup that has produced three victories and a pair of runner-up finishes this season. Highlighting the Bruins’ lineup is freshman Alison Lee, currently ranked No. 1 among U.S. collegiate players and No. 3 in the world amateur rankings. Lee boasts a scoring average of 70.6 and is 26-under par through 21 rounds this year.
Right behind her is junior Erynne Lee, ranked ninth in the U.S. and 26th in the world. She has played 20 rounds this season in four-under par and sports a scoring average of 71.6.
Freshman Bronte Law of Stockport, England was ranked 21st in the U.S. and 35th in the world. In 21 rounds, she has a scoring average of 72.0 and is five-over par.
Sophomore Louise Ridderstrom of Stocksund, Sweden was ranked 74th nationally this week with a scoring average of 73.3. She has improved her ranking more than 60 spots from last season, going from No. 142 at the end of 2013 to her current ranking.
Finally, senior Ani Gulugian was ranked 82nd in the U.S. this week with a scoring average of 73.5.
