Release:  03/13/2014
UCLA freshman Alison Lee and junior Erynne Lee were selected Thursday to the 2014 U.S. Curtis Cup, the United States Golf Assn. announced.

They will join six other U.S. collegiate players for the biennial competition between the United States and Great Britain and Ireland. The Ryder Cup-style match will be staged at St. Louis (Mo.) Country Club, June 6-8

“We’re extremely proud of both Alison and Erynne for earning spots on the 2014 U.S. Curtis Cup Team,” said Hall of Fame Coach Carrie Forsyth. “They have enjoyed outstanding amateur careers, both collegiately and in USGA competition. They are a credit to amateur golf and to our program, and will represent the United States with the utmost respect and pride.”

Alison Lee, a 19 year-old freshman, was the runner-up at the 2012 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship, reached the semifinals of the 2013 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship and has competed in three U.S. Women’s Opens. She captured two collegiate victories during her first quarter at UCLA, and is currently the No. 2 ranked collegiate player in the nation. This season, she leads the Bruins with a scoring average of 70.6 and is 26-under par in 21 rounds. Fourteen of those rounds are under par, another team leader.

Erynne Lee, a 21 year-old junior, has competed in two U.S. Women’s Opens and has three collegiate victories. She has reached at least the quarterfinals at four U.S. Women’s Amateurs, represented the United States at the 2012 Women’s World Amateur Team Championship and the 2013 Copa de las Americas (finishing first in stroke play). In 20 rounds this season, she has a scoring average of 71.6 and is four–under par. Seven of those rounds are under 70, tied for the team lead.

Six-time USGA champion and two-time USA Curtis Cup Team member Ellen Port will serve as captain of the USA Team for the 38th Match. Although the U.S. lost to GB&I 10.5-9.5 in Nairn, Scotland in 2010, it leads the series, 27-7-3.

The Curtis Cup Match consists of six foursomes (alternate-shot) matches, six four-ball matches and eight singles matches over three days of competition.

The other six team members are: Kyung Kim and Annie Park (USC), Allie McDonald (Mississippi State), Ashlan Ramsey (Clemson), Mariah Stackhouse (Stanford) and Emma Tally (Alabama). Among notable past USA Curtis Cup Team members are U.S. Women’s Open champions JoAnne Gunderson Carner, Paula Creamer, Juli Inkster, Cristie Kerr, Patty Sheehan and Hollis Stacy, as well as past and present LPGA stars such as Beth Daniel, Jessica Korda, Stacy Lewis, Nancy Lopez, Dottie Pepper, Lexi Thompson and Michelle Wie.

Great Britain and Ireland will announce its team on May 6.
