The 14th-ranked UCLA men’s golf team continues its Spring Break road trip Friday, preparing to compete in The Goodwin at the Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, CA.

Earlier this week the Bruins finished 11th at the Valspar Invitational at The Floridian Golf Club. Sophomore Jonathan Garrick was UCLA’s top finisher, tying for 15th place at 212 (-2).

Garrick and the same group will try to improve upon their team finish in Florida. The fivesome of senior Anton Arboleda, juniors Manav Shah and Matt Pinizzotto, sophomore Lorens Chan and Garrick will be playing together for just the second time this season.

Garrick leads the fivesome with a scoring average of 70.7 and is 14-under par in 21 rounds this season. His 11 rounds under par and eight rounds under 70 are also team leaders. Chan is four-under par through 21 rounds and is averaging 71.2 with 10 subpar rounds and six rounds under 70. In the latest GolfStat poll, Garrick was ranked 18th nationally and Chan was 40th.

The Goodwin is the new tournament title for Stanford’s previously named U.S. Intercollegiates. Renamed in honor of Wally Goodwin, who coached the Cardinal from 1983-2000, The Goodwin features an 18-team field comprised mainly of West Coast teams. UCLA is one of six Pac-12 teams competing.

The Stanford Golf Course will play to a par of 70 over 6,727 yards.
