Third-ranked UCLA tees it up today in the opening round of the NCAA Men's Golf Championship at the Capital City Club Crabapple Course in Woodstock, Georgia. The Bruins will be making their 45th appearance at the golf national championship, 32nd as a team.

UCLA will be seeking its third NCAA team title, second under Coach Derek Freeman, after winning their fifth overall NCAA Regional Championship two weeks ago at the Karsten Course on the Arizona State campus. UCLA posted a score of 30-under par 810 to win by 17 shots.

UCLA won national championships in men's golf in 1988 and 2008. In 31 team appearances, the Bruins have recorded 13 Top 10 finishes and three podium results, each in the last 10 years. Under coaches O.D. Vincent and Freeman, UCLA has extended its streak of NCAA Championship appearances to 11, a school record.

The Bruins' lineup will consist of seniors Pedro Figueiredo and Pontus Widegren making their fourth appearance at the NCAA Championship, junior Anton Arboleda, third-year sophomore Manav Shah and freshman Jonathan Garrick. Figueiredo, Widegren and Garrick won individual tournaments during the season.

The NCAA Championship format consists of 54 holes of stroke play (May 28-30), followed by a match play draw for the top eight teams (May 31-June 2). The Crabapple Course will play to a par of 70 over 7,320 yards.
