LOS ANGELES, CA -- UCLA junior Jonathan Garrick won his Round of 64 match Wednesday at the U.S. Amateur Championship, hosted by the Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek, GA.

Garrick defeated Michael Gellerman, an alumnus of the Oklahoma golf team, 3 & 2. Garrick never trailed, despite losing a 1-up lead after making a bogey at the third hole. The match remained all-square until a par at the 10th gave Garrick another 1-up lead. Consecutive birdies at the 12th and 13th, gave Garrick a 3-up lead and Gellerman could not mount a rally as holes 14-16 were halved.

Garrick will meet Eli Cole, a graduate of Beverly Hills HS and Texas Christian University golf alumnus, in the Round of 32 on Thursday at 10:05 a.m. EDT. Winner will return to the Highlands Course Thursday afternoon for the Round of 16.
