The No. 12-ranked UCLA women’s rowing team has secured its fourth selection in five years to compete at the NCAA Championships, as revealed during the NCAA’s online selection show Tuesday.

UCLA will compete in the 22-team field at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis, Ind., from Friday, May 30 through Sunday, June 1, with Notre Dame and the Indiana Sports Corporation serving as co-hosts.

The Bruins earned their selection to the season-culminating NCAA Championships after having finished fourth at Pac-12 Championships last weekend.

In 13 seasons as the Bruins’ head coach, Amy Fuller Kearney has helped guide UCLA’s program to unprecedented heights. Two years ago, UCLA registered its best-ever finish at NCAA Championships (eighth) and at Pac-12 Championships (third). Last spring, the Bruins finished ninth overall at NCAA Championships. In 2010, the Bruins earned their first-ever berth as a team to NCAA Championships.

Each of 22 teams selected to compete at NCAA Championships will race two varsity eight crews and one varsity four boat. Six of the seven Pac-12 Conference women’s rowing programs will compete in two weeks in Indianapolis.

The top two boats in each heat will advance to semifinals. The remaining boats will compete at the repechage race on Friday afternoon, where the top two finishers will fill out the final semifinal spots. The top three boats in each semifinal heat will advance to the championship race.

UCLA’s varsity eight crew has been seeded No. 11 out of 22 total entries. The Bruins’ second varsity eight has been seeded No. 5 (out of 22), while the varsity four crew has been seeded No. 15.
