Nine UCLA Rowers Secure Pac-12 All-Academic Team Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Nine UCLA women’s rowers have earned 2014 Pac-12 All-Academic Team acclaim, and nine additional rowers were chosen as honorable mention selections.

Junior Chloe Kojima secured first-team All-Academic acclaim for the second consecutive season, joining senior Meaghan Volker, junior Kendal Mitchell and sophomore Paige Cheung as first-team selections. Mitchell earned Pac-12 All-Academic Team honors for the second consecutive season, having been honored as a second-team recipient in 2013.

Seniors Victoria Babson, Erin Wenzel and Deanna Wong, junior Victoria Vander Poel and sophomore Alice White captured second-team All-Academic honors. Wenzel is a three-time all-academic selection, while Wong, Vander Poel and Babson have secured the conference’s academic award for the second time in their respective careers.

Seniors Carolina Paini, Nicole Sung-Jereczek and Samantha Upton, juniors Maddie Alden, Kate Miller, Emma Murray and Cathy Stolitzka, and sophomore Logan Warwick have earned honorable mention Pac-12 All-Academic Team acclaim.

Wenzel, Paini and Sung-Jereczek are UCLA’s only seniors to have earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors in each of their three seasons (either on the first- or second-team or selected as an honorable mention).

UCLA concluded its 2014 spring season with a 12th-place overall finish at NCAA Championships on Sunday, June 1, at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis, Ind. The Bruins advanced to NCAA Championships for the third consecutive season.
