ZGF Architects LLP (ZGF), an award-winning architectural, planning, and interior design firm, was selected by the UCLA Athletic Department to design its new Football Training Facility.

With offices in Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, Washington, DC, and New York, ZGF boasts an impressive portfolio of work with public and private projects that include athletic and academic facilities, healthcare and research buildings, commercial developments, corporate campuses, and civic and cultural facilities.

“In selecting ZGF, we have chosen one of the preeminent design firms in the nation to help us realize our vision for the new football facility,” said UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero. “ZGF’s body of work speaks for itself, and UCLA Athletics is excited to team up with them to create what we both feel will be one of the finest facilities in the country.”

ZGF’s dedication to design excellence has resulted in a nationally-recognized reputation for creativity and quality, as evidenced by many national, regional and local awards. Notably, ZGF recently completed work on the University of Oregon’s athletic facilities, including the Athletic Medicine Center, the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex (Football Performance Center), and the John E. Jaqua Academic Center for Student Athletes.

Recent projects in Southern California include both the Marion and Jon E. Anderson Pavilion and Saban Research Institute at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, the Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center at the California Science Center, the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation Headquarters (recipient of the AIA California Council’s 2013 Honor Award for Sustainability), and the J. Craig Venter Institute La Jolla.

Having also worked extensively within the University of California system, recent UC projects include: University of California, Berkeley, Stanley Hall; University of California, Berkeley, Li Ka Shing Center for Biomedical and Health Sciences; University of California, Davis, Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science; University of California, San Diego, Rebecca and John Moores UCSD Cancer Center; and University of California, San Diego, Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute.

“Our team at ZGF is very excited to be working on this project,” said ZGF Design Partner Braulio Baptista. “It’s an honor to collaborate with an institution of the caliber and heritage of UCLA. The football staff and student athletes are an extremely talented and hard-working group, and they deserve a state-of-the-art facility that is custom-tailored to their mission. The new UCLA Football Training Facility will inspire and honor their commitment to excellence on and off the field.”
