Three UCLA Bruin true freshmen, the most selections of any school in the country, highlight the 13th annual Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-America Team which was announced on Monday. Offensive guard Alex Redmond, linebacker Myles Jack and defensive end Eddie Vanderdoes were chosen to the first-team.

Redmond, a product of Los Alamitos, CA High School, started all 13 games this past season at right guard. He had also been named to the first-team Freshman All-America squads as selected by Sporting News, 247 Sports and Athlon Sports. Jack, who attended Bellevue, WA High School, was in the starting lineup for 12 games this season, 11 on defense and one as a running back. He was a finalist for the Paul Hornung Award as the nation’s most versatile player and was a first-team All-America selection by Athlon Sports as an all-purpose player. Vanderdoes, from Placer High School in Auburn, CA, made seven starts along the defensive front and had previously been named to the first-team Freshman All-America team picked by Sporting News.

The team and coach are selected by a 10-person panel of nationally-prominent writers. Both true freshmen (21 players) and redshirt freshmen (seven players) were considered for the team.
