Dimetrius (Dimitri) Hajimihalis is entering his eighth season on the football staff. Hajimihalis was promoted to Director of Head Coach Administration & Personnel in February of 2016. In this capacity Dimitri oversees all aspects of the football program including the day-to-day operation and organization, all personnel and roster management. Hajimihalis works closely with Head Coach Jim Mora in strategizing for practices and game day, as well as long term planning and projects. Additionally, he serves as the primary liaison from the football program to all other areas within the Athletic Department.
Previously, Hajimihalis served as the Special Assistant to Head Coach Jim Mora and spent 2 years working with the Bruins’ Special Teams units. In 2015, Dimitri served as a Special Teams/Defensive Analyst, working with a group that saw kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn win the Lou Groza Award for the nation’s top placekicker and set the Pac-12 and UCLA record for scoring. In 2014, UCLA Special Teams returned their first kickoff return for a touchdown in over a decade and ranked in the top 3 in multiple statistical categories, including top 2 and 3 finishes in kickoff coverage in both 2014 and 2015.
Prior to his work with Special Teams, Hajimihalis was a Defensive Line Graduate Assistant and assisted former Defensive Coordinator Jeff Ulbrich with game planning, breakdowns and organization. In his first season as a Graduate Assistant Coach, he assisted Adrian Klemm with an offensive line unit that saw Xavier Su’a Filo drafted into the NFL, as well as win the coveted Morris Trophy. Additionally, the offensive line blocked for Bruin running backs Paul Perkins and Johnathan Franklin, who rank 1st and 2nd in UCLA history for yardage gained. In addition to his coaching duties, his responsibilities included opponent breakdown, self scout, management of the playbook and weekly game book, personnel evaluation and assisting in recruiting and operations.
From 2009-12, Hajimihalis was a student assistant coach, focusing on offensive line and performing opponent breakdown and offensive installations. In addition, he served as former UCLA Head Coach Rick Neuheisel’s assistant.
PERSONAL — Earned his BA from UCLA in Political Science, with a concentration in International Relations and a Master's degree from UCLA in 2014. Four-sport athlete (football, squash, wrestling and lacrosse) at St. Paul’s School in Baltimore, Md.
