IRVING, Texas – Former UCLA All-American quarterback John Sciarra (1972-75) was selected for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame, the National Football Foundation announced Thursday at the 2014 induction ceremony presented by PrimeSport.

Sciarra becomes the 12th UCLA player inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame,  joining (listed with year of induction) Jonathan Ogden (2012), Kenny Washington (1956), Donn Moomaw (1973), Tom Fears (1976), Al Sparlis (1983), Gary Beban (1988), Kenny Easley (1991), Jerry Robinson (1996), Billy Kilmer (1999), Troy Aikman (2008), and Randy Cross (2010).

Hall of Fame UCLA coaches include Tommy Prothro (1991), Red Sanders (1996) and Terry Donahue (2000).

Sciarra played quarterback at UCLA in 1972-75 and was named a first-team consensus All-American in 1975. He led the Bruins to a win over top-ranked Ohio State in the 1976 Rose Bowl and was selected the player of the game. Sciarra finished seventh in the 1975 Heisman Trophy balloting.

At the end of his Bruin career, he ranked among the all-time school leaders in total offense (4,464 yards), career passing (148 completions) and rushing (1,813 yards).

The 2014 College Football Hall of Fame Class will be inducted together at the 57th NFF Annual Awards Dinner on Dec. 9, 2014, at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. The inductees will also be honored at the National Hall of Fame Salute at the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on Jan. 1, 2015.
