UCLA Head Coach Karl Dorrell
That was a good performance. It was a challenging game. This was a game we were supposed to win decisively, and it's nice to see our team come through. We had great command from start to finish. I'm disappointed with our penalties; that sticks out in my mind. But we had a great performance on offense. We took advantage of things. We do have wide receivers, as you can see. Our running backs did a nice job, as did our O-line. Drew Olson was on fire for the first half. He didn't feel he could make an incompletion. He played well for the second week in a row and again was doing some good decision-making.
In the second half, we put our twos in. We struggled at first until we chewed a little butt to get them going. It's nice to see them respond and do things towards end of the game. I'm really happy with what the offense did.
It was a tough defensive game. We didn't know exactly what they were going to do, but we knew they would have some option component. Overall our defense was solid. We held them under 300 yards of total offense. It was a pretty good challenge for the type of team that particular offense is. We made some big plays got a key play with our two defense. They got a sack and a fumble and got into the offense with a scoop and score. There are a lot of positives to build on.
Our special teams was solid again. Some games are going to be won with special teams. This is one of the things we stressed with our players. I'm excited we had solid performance with those players.
We start preparing for next Saturday tomorrow. We didn't think about that particular opponent till now. It's an opportunity to play a national game against a team that was contending for the national championship last season. We're excited about the opportunity to play them. They're a very good football program. We'll be prepared to have success in every game.

(On the affect Hurricane Katrina had on the team)
We have five players from Mississippi who were affected. Brandon King lost everything. It certainly had some impact, but I didn't think it has as much impact as simply not playing a game. Since November, we've been playing ourselves. They (UCLA) had a game under their belt.
They were tremendously strong. They were able to get control of the corner and make some long, wide plays early in the ballgame. They did a good job defensively. I think they had a good scheme.
The great thing about tonight was that we didn't quit. Even when they scored we answered with a good drive right down the field. Even before the half, I thought we had a chance to score. If our guy didn't have his knee down, we would have scored on that screen pass. We did some good things, but when the score got ballooned up, it didn't let us do the things we wanted to do.
