UCLA Head Coach Karl Dorrell
"We keep finding a way to win. We have a little luck on our side. It was a heck of a football game. Cal is a very good team. They were well rested and came in here with a determination to get a big victory for themselves."

"Our defense made some plays and so did our offense, but we also made some mistakes. The good thing about our team is their character. They have good character and they find a way within themselves to pull out something particular when they could let the balloon totally deflate. The team found a way to make a big stop when we needed it."

"I was tired too and I didn't work as hard as those guys. It was an intense football game. It was nice to have our former players here. There were some deep impressions we wanted to make with them, as far as history. The Cal game is always a tough, hard-fought game. Today was no different, but we found a way to come out with a victory against a good Cal team."

On Cal's blocked field goals
"They were big plays, but we will probably be kicking ourselves in the butt tomorrow when we see our muffed field goal attempt. There were some mistakes on our end as well, but that's a part of football. Sometimes the bounces go your way, sometimes they don't"

On stopping Echemandu
"We wanted to do a much better stop of the run in this game, period. Arizona came out and had a good attack against us and had good rushing production against us. As a defense, we wanted to shore up our run stoppage, like we did before the Arizona game. We were mission accomplished as far as our run stoppage today.

On the last play of the game
"It looked good to me until it hit the left upright. He had plenty of leg on it."

California Head Coach Jeff Tedford
"I am very proud of them. We are going to keep working hard and we are going to get our share of victories. I am very disappointed for the kids. They deserve better. It tears your guts out when they don't come away with the prize. My emotions are with the players because they are the ones laying it on the line."

"We had a game plan to try to throw the ball underneath. If you watch any film on them or know anything about them, people throw their linebackers a lot of interceptions. We knew we had to throw the ball underneath and try to run for a first down or we would turn the ball over."

"They are a very tough defense. We moved the ball well, but you have to capitalize on your opportunities. I thought the team played extremely hard. We just have to capitalize if we want to win. It was two good defensive teams. They don't give away too many big plays. Number 43 (Dave Ball) is a tremendous pass rusher."
