Feb. 2, 2000

Wide receiver Tab Perry, offensive lineman Paul Mociler, defensive back Ben Emanuel and kicker Chris Kluwe highlight a list of 14 high school seniors who have signed letters-of-intent to attend UCLA.

Kluwe was selected to USA Today's All-America first team while Perry and Mociler were named to PrepStar's Dream Team and to the USA Today All-America second team. Mociler was also selected to the Parade All-America team. Emanuel was named the No. 2 defensive back and the No. 11 player in the nation by SuperPrep.

"We are excited about the quality of this group of signees," said head coach Bob Toledo. "We addressed our needs. We feel there is good balance between offense and defense, plus the addition of an All-American punter/kicker, and that this group, coupled with our signees of the last couple of years, will continue our building of a solid program. The bulk of our team are the players who we signed in 1998, 1999 and 2000."

Six new Bruins -- Emanuel, Mociler, fullback Pat Norton, Perry and offensive lineman John Ream and Steve Vieira -- were named to SuperPrep's All-America team. Twelve of the signees -- wide receiver Craig Bragg, linebacker Brandon Chillar, Emanuel, Kluwe, Mociler, Norton, Perry, Ream, defensive back Keith Short, Vieira, linebacker Tim Warfield and tailback Manuel White, Jr. -- were named PrepStar All-Americans. All 14 signees were named to PrepStar's various All Region squads. Thirteen of the new Bruins -- Bragg, linebacker Ray Cassaday, Chillar, offensive lineman Eyoseff Efseaff, Emanuel, Kluwe, Mociler, Norton, Perry, Ream, Short, Vieira and White -- were selected All-Region selections by SuperPrep.

Chillar, Emanuel, Kluwe, Mociler and Perry were named to the Student Sports Magazine All-America team. Eleven new Bruins -- Bragg, Cassaday, Chillar, Efseaff, Kluwe, Mociler, Norton, Perry, Ream, Vieira and White -- were named to the Tacoma News Tribune Western 100. Chillar, Mociler, Norton and Perry were selected to the Long Beach Press-Telegram Best in the West first team while Warfield and White were named to the second team. Mociler and Perry were selected to the Orange County Register Fab 15 first team.

Six new Bruins -- Chillar, Kluwe, Mociler, Norton, Perry and White -- were named first-team All-California by Student Sports while Cassaday and Efseaff were second-team selections. Emanuel (Texas) and Ream (Nevada) were also first-team All-State selections.
