Junior linebacker Spencer Havner and junior tight end Marcedes Lewis will both play their senior seasons at UCLA, they announced today.

Havner led the Pac-10 in tackles with an average of 11.36 per game (125 total). In addition, he ranked seventh (tied) nationally in tackles and second (7.64) in solo tackles. He was named a first-team All-American by cbssportsline.com and collegefootballnews.com and was a second-team choice by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

Lewis was one of three finalists for the John Mackey Award, presented annually to the nation's top tight end, and is the only one of the finalists who will be playing college football in 2005. Lewis set a UCLA tight end record with seven touchdown receptions in 2004. He was tied for second on the squad with 32 receptions and ranked first with 25 first downs.

"I am excited about our future," said Lewis. "We played much better on offense last season. I think we'll be even better next year and I want to be a part of it."

"We have nine starters coming back on defense and I think we will be very good," said Havner. "I am looking forward to an exciting senior season."

Both players had previously stated that they planned to remain in school.

"We are happy that Spencer and Marcedes are staying in school," said head coach Karl Dorrell. "We expect to have a successful season in 2005 and these two players makes us a better team."
