Coach Mora addresses media after the morning practice and talks about Patrick Larimore.
The Bruin football team took the field for a couple of practices on Monday at Cal State San Bernardino. In the evening session, the Bruins put on the full pads after going in shorts and helmets in the morning. Please note that Tuesday's practice has been moved to a 10:30 a.m. start time. Continue to check the website for practice time changes / updates.
The team worked extensively on the passing game and game situation drills in the evening practice. "It was a good practice for us," said coach Mora. "The guys are working hard; I like the attitude." Shaquelle Evans made a nice catch in tight coverage on a long pass play during one series. Jerry Johnson made a catch in traffic for a big gain in another. Jordan Payton also made an impressive catch-and-run. Young receivers Kenny Walker and Javon Williams continue to perform well. Ishmael Adams and Aaron Hester came up big for the secondary during a couple of the drills.
In the first practice of the day, the team worked through multiple game situations, focusing on the four-minute and two-minute drills at the end. Coach Mora noted that Patrick Larimore indicated to the team last night that he will file the paperwork for a medical retirement. The senior linebacker has experienced multiple concussions.
Coach Mora described Larimore as possessing all the qualities you love in a football player, a leader on the field and in the locker room. It was a tough decision, but one made with the long term health of the young man in mind. Coach indicated that Larimore expressed a desire to stay a part of the team and may play a role as a student-coach in the future.
