Cornerback Alterraun Verner, who enjoyed a sensational rookie season with the NFL's Tennessee Titans, is back at UCLA and attending Winter Quarter classes.
Verner flew home from Tennessee on Wednesday, moved into his on-campus dorm room last night and attended classes today. He is enrolled in three courses this quarter.
"I made a commitment to myself last year that I would return to UCLA to work on completing the requirements for my degree," said Verner.
"It's great being back at UCLA. I'm going to enjoy living up at the dorms and seeing all the familiar faces on campus. It feels like home to me."
Verner earned All-America and Pac-10 All-Academic honors during his career. He made 13 career interceptions (T-eighth on UCLA's all-time list) and returned a school-record four for touchdowns. He also returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown.
This season with the Titans, he established himself as a candidate for Rookie of the Year. Verner started 12 of his 16 games and made 101 tackles and three interceptions. His 101 tackles ranked tied for first in the NFL among cornerbacks and second among all NFL rookies. He made at least 10 tackles in each of his last four games.
