The Bruins returned to the new turf and grass surfaces of Spaulding Field for practice on Saturday as they prepare for the August 30 season-opener at Rice. "That was just a little bonus work today," said Coach Mora. " We will start, what will be, our normal game week preparation tomorrow."
The Bruins are 60-28-5 all-time in season-openers. This will be the third straight season UCLA has begun a season away from the Rose Bowl and the second year in a row that a season will open in Houston, TX.
The game against Rice University, on August 30, will be televised by the CBS Sports Network beginning at 6:30 p.m. CT/4:30 p.m. PT. The Bruins then return home to the Rose Bowl for three straight games --- Nebraska (Sept. 8, 4:30 p.m. on FOX), Houston (Sept. 15, 7:30 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks) and Oregon State (Sept. 22, time TBA).
