The Bruins continued preparations for the season-opener on Monday with another day of good work on the new turf and grass surfaces at Spaulding Field. Coach Mora noted that officials were brought out to practice today to help get the team ready for game-like situations and ball placement. We are all getting "excited to play someone with a different uniform on," said coach.

Some Bruin notes from this past week's NFL games -- Akeem Ayers had six tackles, one for loss, for Tennesseee; Kai Forbath booted field goals of 51 and 55 yards for Tampa Bay; Derrick Coleman had eight carries for 15 yards for the Vikings; Justin Hickman had a tackle for the Colts; Terrence Austin caught two passes for Washington; Nate Chandler had three stops for Carolina.

UCLA opens the 2012 football season on the road with a contest in Houston, TX against Rice University on August 30 (6:30 p.m. CT/4:30 p.m. PT on CBS Sports Network). The Bruins then return home to the Rose Bowl for three straight games --- Nebraska (Sept. 8, 4:30 p.m. on FOX), Houston (Sept. 15, 7:30 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks) and Oregon State (Sept. 22, time TBA).
