Verner and Forbath named to ESPN.com All-America Team

Aug. 14, 2009

UCLA senior cornerback Alterraun Verner and junior place kicker Kai Forbath have been selected to the ESPN.com All-America team by college football columnist Ivan Maisel.

Verner, who yesterday was named to the Watch List for the Bednarik Award and is also a top contender for the Thorpe Award and Lott Trophy, led the nation in passes defensed in 2008, averaging 1.67 per game. He also ranked second on the Bruin squad with 73 tackles.

Forbath, one of the leading contenders for the Groza Award, has been named to several other pre-season All-America teams. In 2008, he made 19 of 22 field goals, including his final 13 attempts of the season, to earn third-team All-America acclaim from Associated Press.
