UCLA's victory raised its overall record to 7-5, 5-4 in the Pac-10. USC finished the regular season with a 10-2 record, 7-2 in the Pac-10. The Trojans won their fifth straight league title, the Bruins finished fourth.

UCLA's 13-9 victory at the Rose Bowl snapped USC's seven-game winning streak in the series. USC leads the series 41-28-7. The victory raised UCLA's record against USC at the Rose Bowl to 8-5. UCLA's win over its cross-town rival was its first this century.

UCLA's victory marked the first time since a 25-22 win at Washington in 1990 that the Bruins have defeated a No.2 ranked team. The last time UCLA defeated a ranked team was last season vs. California (47-40).

USC's nine points scored was the fewest it had scored in the series since a 7-7 tie in 1971. Those nine points scored snapped a USC streak of 63 games in which the Trojans had scored 20 or more points. The last time the Trojans scored fewer points was in the 2001 Las Vegas Bowl when they lost 10-6 to Utah.

UCLA senior All-American place kicker Justin Medlock kicked two field goals and made one extra point for a total of seven points, He has scored 104 points this season to become the 11th player in UCLA history to score 100 or more points in a season. For his career, he ranks second in scoring with 348 points.

Marcus Everett's 15-yard reception in the second quarter for a first down marked the 17th straight game he has caught at least one pass. He has caught at least one pass in 21 of the last 22 games.

True junior Shannon Tevaga made his 30th consecutive start, redshirt junior Trey Brown made his 29th straight start and senior Justin Hickman made his 27th consecutive start.

Pat Cowan's 29-yard first quarter run was the longest of his UCLA career and the third longest run for UCLA this season. Cowan's subsequent one-yard plunge for a touchdown was his second rushing TD of the season. On the drive, Cowan gained 55 yards on four carries.

The Bruins' 91-yard, 12-play scoring drive in the first quarter was their longest of the season.

The safety allowed by the Bruins in the second quarter was the first of the season. It was the first safety allowed by the Bruins since 1998.

Aaron Perez's 63-yard punt late in the fourth quarter was the longest of his career. His 62-yarder in the third quarter was his previous long..

The 24-yard punt return by redshirt sophomore Ryan Graves was the longest of his career and the second longest of the season for the Bruins.

Player/Game Notes:

  • With his four catches, USC WR Dwayne Jarrett moved into second place on USC's career reception chart with 205.
  • Freshman TB C.J. Gable made his fourth start of the season (Arkansas, Cal, Notre Dame). His 2nd quarter TD rush was his fourth of the season. He led USC in rushing for the third straight game.
  • USC has kicked off to start each of its 12 games this season.
  • UCLA's 91-yard 1st quarter TD drive was the longest allowed by USC this season (84 by ASU).
  • When USC forced a 2nd quarter safety, it was the first for Troy since 2003 when WSU, in punting formation, snapped the ball out of the end zone at the Coliseum.
  • USC TE Fred Davis finished with a career high with 68 receiving yards and set a career high in receptions with six.
  • USC's 15 first downs were the fewest total this season (18 vs. Arizona State and at Stanford).
  • USC's 55 rushing yards were the lowest total this season (previous low of 86 at Oregon State).
  • USC scored the fewest points (nine) vs. UCLA since a 7-7 tie in 1971.
  • USC's nine points were the fewest overall since a 10-6 loss to Utah on Dec. 25, 2001 in the Las Vegas Bowl.
  • USC failed to score 20 or more points, the first time since the aforementioned Las Vegas Bowl, snapping USC's NCAA record streak of scoring 20 or more in 63 straight games.
