The Bruins took the field for the first time following last week's win over 17th-ranked Nebraska and began preparations for Saturday's battle against Houston. It was another day of good work on the new turf and grass surfaces at Spaulding Field.
Some Bruin notes from this past week in the NFL Opening Weekend- Arizona - DL saw action for Arizona; Carolina - PK Justin Medlock connected on his only field goal attempt from 21-yards in the opener, Cleveland - LS Christian Yount; Dallas - DL Kenyon Coleman started and made one stop; Denver - WR Matthew Willis had one catch, S Rahim Moore started at free safety; Indianapolis - LB Justin Hickman had a special teams tackle; Jacksonville - RB Maurice Jones-Drew totaled 77 yards on the ground, TE Marcedes Lewis caught five balls, one for a touchdown; San Diego - OT Mike Harris started the opener for the Chargers; Tennessee - LB Akeem Ayers led the team with 11 tackles, CB Alterraun Verner added nine stops; Washington - TE Logan Paulsen hauled in a pass in a win.
The game against Houston is the first of six more home contests in the Rose Bowl for the Bruins, including the next two weekends --- Houston (Sept. 15, 7:30 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks) and Oregon State (Sept. 22, 12:30 p.m. on ABC/ESPN2).
