The Bruins entered game week practice mode on Sunday at Spaulding Field as they prepare for the August 30 season-opener at Rice. Coach Mora talked about creating a routine to help carry the players through the week and game ahead.
The Bruins are 60-28-5 all-time in season-openers. This will be the third straight season UCLA has begun a season away from the Rose Bowl and the second year in a row that a season will open in Houston, TX. Brett Hundley would become the third freshman quarterback to start a season-opener for UCLA. Kevin Prince, in 2009, and Bret Johnson, in 1989, are the others.
The game against Rice University will be televised by the CBS Sports Network beginning at 6:30 p.m. CT/4:30 p.m. PT. The Bruins then return home to the Rose Bowl for three straight games --- Nebraska (Sept. 8, 4:30 p.m. on FOX), Houston (Sept. 15, 7:30 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks) and Oregon State (Sept. 22, time TBA).
