Dec. 12, 2009

UCLA's Kai Forbath has earned first-team All-America honors again. The junior place kicker has been named to the 2009 Football Writers Association of America All-America Team, it was announced on Saturday.

The 2009 Lou Groza Award winner, Forbath has also been selected first-team All-America by the American Football Coaches Assn. and the Walter Camp Football Foundation. Forbath and Stanford running back Toby Gerhart were the only representatives from the Pac-10.

Forbath has had a sensational junior campaign for the Bruins, winning the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award. He is the No. 2 kicker in the nation with 2.17 field goals per game and his .897 percentage (more than 20 attempts). He has connected on 26 of 29 field goals this season. His only misses have come from distances of 51, 52 and 51-yards out. Forbath has connected on 35 straight field goal attempts under 50-yards, dating back to the Oregon game in 2008.

The FWAA All-America Team, the second-longest continuously-published team in major college football, was announced on ABC-TV for the sixth straight season during a one-hour show that was sponsored by AT&T. The FWAA has named an All-America team in some form since 1944.
