2016 NFL Draft
Johnathan Franklin Named UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Sept. 20, 2010

Redshirt sophomore tailback Johnathan Franklin (Los Angeles, CA/Dorsey HS) of the UCLA football team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Sept. 13-19.

In the 31-13 win over Houston on Saturday, Franklin ran for a career-high 158 yards on 26 carries, the most by a Bruin since Chris Markey rushed for 193 against Washington in 2007. He also scored three rushing touchdowns (11, one and 12 yards), becoming the first Bruin to do so since Chane Moline did it last year at Washington State. Four of his runs gained at least 10 yards (26 was his longest), and 13 runs gained at least five yards. Franklin leads the Bruins in rushing with 291 yards (5.8 average) in three games. He is third in the Pac-10 and 33rd in the NCAA with his average of 97.0 yards per game.

This is Franklin's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and second of his career.

Also nominated: Ben Hohl, M. Water Polo; David McDonald, M. Cross Country; Dicey McGraw, W. Volleyball; Evan Raynr, M. Soccer; Caitlin Schmitt, W. Cross Country.
