The Bruins (3-0), ranked 19th in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls, begin Pac-12 Conference play by hosting Oregon State (1-0) on Saturday, September 22 in the Rose Bowl. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. PT and the game will be televised by ABC (and shown on ESPN2 in areas of the country where it is not the ABC regional game) with Sean McDonough and Chris Spielman in the booth and Quint Kessinich on the sidelines. UCLA played its first game as a ranked team last week against Houston since Sept. 15, 2007.
The Bruin IMG Radio Network (Chris Roberts, Matt Stevens and Wayne Cook) will radio broadcast the contest on 1150am in the Los Angeles area. The game will also be aired nationally on SIRIUS (Ch. 85), XM (Ch. 85).
VS. OREGON STATE
The Bruins lead the series 41-15-4 and have captured the last two meetings. The two teams met last season in UCLA's first-ever game in the Pac-12 conference. The Bruins came away with a 27-19 verdict in Corvallis. Turnovers helped UCLA jump out to a 21-3 lead. After OSU closed to 21-19 on the last play of the third quarter, the Bruins used a one-yard scoring run by Anthony Barr to go ahead 27-19 with 6:15 to play in the contest. That drive began after the Bruin defense had stopped OSU on a fourth-and-one play at the UCLA 34-yard line. Derrick Coleman ran for 100 yards in the contest. Cornerback Aaron Hester was credited with a career-best 11 tackles. Quarterback Richard Brehaut threw for 146 yards and a touchdown. In 2010, Kai Forbath booted a 51-yard field goal on the last play of the Bruin win in the Rose Bowl.
**RB Johnathan Franklin leads the nation in rushing (180.33/g) after putting together three straight 100-yard rushing games, including two season-opening 200 yards plus efforts against Rice (214) and Nebraska (217)...he also leads the nation in all-purpose yardage (222.33)
**This is the second time in his career Franklin has put together three-straight 100-yard rushing games, also in 2010 ... the last player to have more than three straight was Tyler Ebell, with six consecutive in 2002
**QB Brett Hundley's 320 passing yards against Houston made him the first Bruin freshman to ever throw for 300 yards in back-to-back games (309 v. Nebraska)
**Hundley leads all freshmen nationally in passing yards (827), total offense yards (946) and completions (23/g); he is tied for the freshman lead nationally in scoring passes with eight
**In the second half of its first three contests, UCLA has allowed a total of 282 yards of offense and 12 points
**This was Franklin's 13th career 100-yard rushing game, tied for fifth on all-time list with DeShaun Foster
**The last UCLA head coach to begin his career with three straight wins was Terry Donahue, in 1976, who went unbeaten in his first 10 games (tie in game four)
**UCLA has not gained at least 500 yards of total offense in any three previous three game stretch (complete records date back to the 1958 season) ... ** Y receiver Joseph Fauria, on the Mackey Award Watch List, caught his 10th and 11th career scoring passes vs. Nebraska marking the third game in his career with multiple tds

The Bruins welcome back quarterback Matt Stevens (1983-86) as this week's honorary captain. Stevens currently serves as a radio analyst for UCLA football on FOX Sports Radio AM 570. During his collegiate career, Stevens amassed 2,931 passing yards which ranks 12th on the all-time school list). He helped lead the Bruins to the 1986 Rose Bowl, a 45-28 win over Iowa. The following year, Stevens guided UCLA to its fifth straight bowl victory as the Bruins toppled BYU 31-10 in the Freedom Bowl. Prior to his work in sports broadcasting, Stevens spent a year with the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs as well as seeing action in the Arena League.

COACH MORA's TEAM
First-year head coach Jim Mora, a former NFC Coach of the Year while with the Atlanta Falcons, has 43 letterwinners returning for action. The Bruins welcome back six players who started the bulk of the games at their defensive positions in 2011 and seven more on the offensive side of the ball who were on the field for the first snap in the majority of games. Returning players with 20 or more starts under their belts include -- Offensive lineman Jeff Baca (35), running back Johnathan Franklin (35), defensive cornerback Sheldon Price (34), defensive end Datone Jones (32), defensive cornerback Aaron Hester (27), quarterback Kevin Prince (26), linebacker Damien Holmes (21). Also back is Y receiver Joseph Fauria who led the team with six touchdown grabs last season. Linebackers Eric Kendricks and Jordan Zumwalt, who ranked second and third, respectively, on the team in tackles last season return. Interception leaders Andrew Abbott (4) and Tevin McDonald (3) move back into the secondary. Punter Jeff Locke, one of the nation's best, is primed for a standout season.
